Covid-19 is disrupting economic and social life, but it is occurring in a time of rapid digitalisation, which, in turn, is helping governments, businesses and consumers in their decision-making to respond and adapt to the situation. However, differences in digital readiness hamper the ability of large parts of the world to take advantage of digital technologies, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) says in its April report 'The COVID-19 crisis: Accentuating the need to bridge digital divides'.
