Covid-19 to take 18% bite from global road freight revenue, says the IRU

The Covid-19 pandemic and corresponding restrictions on movement, and social distancing, have had an enormous impact on commercial road transport operators and those they serve, says International Road Transport Union (IRU) senior adviser Jens Hügel. He says Covid-19-linked disruptions in the global logistics chain will see an expected and “dramatic” 18% decline ­– valued at 551-billion euro – in road freight transport turnover in the 2020 financial year.
