Following the delivery of the Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) by Finance Minister Tito Mboweni on October 29, business organisations have commended its acknowledgement of the dire economic situation facing the country, but have noted that more urgency is required in terms of reforms and interventions, and that gaps still remain. The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Sacci) notes that the MTBPS highlighted the well-known economic challenges facing the country, which have been prevalent for a while and were exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
