South Africa’s non-integrated chrome ore exporters want to discuss ways of solving the existential threat to South Africa’s struggling ferrochrome industry to avoid the need for an export tax being imposed on the export of locally mined chrome ore. However, they are not legally permitted to enter into discussion fully until they receive an exemption to do so from the Competition Commission.
