COMSOL Multiphysics (Femlab) is a simulation package that solves systems of nonlinear partial differential equations using finite element methods in one, two, and three dimensions. It allows you to solve problems in the field of electromagnetism, the theory of elasticity, the dynamics of liquids and gases, and chemical gas dynamics. COMSOL Multiphysics also allows you to solve a problem both in mathematical formulation (in the form of a system of equations) and in a physical form (choosing a physical model, for example, a model of the diffusion process). Of course, in any case, the system of equations will be solved, and the only difference is in the possibility of using physical systems of units and physical terminology. In the so-called physical mode of operation, it is also possible to use predetermined equations for most of the phenomena that occur in science and technology, such as heat and electricity transport, elasticity theory, diffusion, wave propagation and fluid flow. To enable tighter integration of COMSOL Multiphysics with third-party design systems, support for Parasolid files has been implemented and a new interface has been added for two-way interaction with Autodesk Inventor. With this interface, any changes made while working in COMSOL or Autodesk Inventor will be automatically accepted in both applications. Professionals are offered improved tools for post-processing, visualization of models and exchange of analysis results. A set of additional modules (AC / DC Module, Chemical Engineering Module, Earth Science Module, Heat Transfer Module, etc.) provides accelerated solution of specific tasks.
