Transnet asks Nersa to relook historic neutrality agreement on fuel transport

State-owned Transnet has lodged a formal complaint with the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) related to a historical agreement between Transnet and petrochemical companies Sasol and Total, involving a pricing mechanism in the transportation of crude oil. The freight utility says the “unfair” pricing mechanism was concluded in the Apartheid era between the government at the time and Natref – the inland refinery owned by Sasol and Total.
