Research organisation the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) celebrated scientists and researchers working to find scientific solutions to worldwide problems on Africa Day, May 25, and urged fellow research organisations, governments and industries to work together in ensuring that science and technology is used to address the unique challenges faced by Africa and its people. The CSIR believes that connecting knowledge and research ecosystems is critical on the continent. It, therefore, calls on governments and the private sector across the continent to invest more in research, development and innovation (RDI) to strengthen the competitiveness of African industries, while providing solutions to societal challenges.
