The basic structural materials for posttensioned segmental crosshead are very similar to posttensioned structures in general, which consist of high-strength concrete, high-strength prestressing steels, and ordinary reinforcing steel, including grout in the duct. The general principle with prestressed design is to ensure that the concrete is either in compression or within accpetable stress limits under service load conditions. Prestress also enhances the shear and ultimate capacity of concrete section.
This webinar describes different aspects are considered during the design of segmental crosshead. The procedure will include segmental pier analysis with the particular requirements of the BS 5400.
