Description: This presentation will discuss the research and development towards a proposed solution to overcome constructability limitations of mass concrete structural walls for the Eglinton LRT project, in Toronto, Canada. Some of the stations are being constructed top-down, limiting the access of moving forms and in a method that will adhere to the schedule, so shooting the concrete was suggested. With very tight maximum temperature restrictions (50C) and a maximum thickness of 1.3 m, a high-volume slag replacement shotcrete mix had to be developed and tested.
