Self Deicing and Strain Sensing Functionalities of Smart Concrete: Advanced Electrothermic Efficiency and Electromechanical Impedance Sensitivity
Presented By: Maria Konsta

Description: New functionalities based on the advanced electrothermic and electromechanical properties of concrete with embedded nanoscale carbon fiber networks are presented. Nanofibers alter the nanocomposites’ heating characteristics leading to a rapidly accelerated deicing process under the application of a low electric current. A strong piezoelectric behavior is also reported by optimizing the fractional change of nanocomposites’ capacitance.
