This talk looks at splices in AESS members. Unlike concealed steel where the splices are hidden, splice connections in AESS are on display. There is a variety of ways to approach the intentional downplaying of this necessary connection, to work in concert with the overall detailing of the structure. The use of fully remediated weld splices will be compared to hidden and discreet connections. A variety of real world examples will be referenced.
