Technology group Liquid Intelligent Technologies has bridged communications between Kinshasa and Congo Brazzaville after leveraging wireless optical communication technology (WOC) from Project Taara at X, Alphabet’s moonshot factory, to deliver affordable high-speed connectivity to communities in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The high-capacity link will lower the cost of broadband access for millions of people, as, despite a 4.8 km distance between the two regions, Internet connectivity is more expensive in Kinshasa than in Brazzaville, owing to their separation by the Congo River.
