Global air cargo demand in August this year showed that the sector remained resilient, despite economic uncertainties, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has reported. (IATA is the representative body of the global airline industry.) Global air cargo demand in August was down 8.3% in year-on-year (year-on-year) terms, but this was a small improvement on the year-on-year decline of 9.7% recorded in July. Regarding international air cargo demand in August, this was down 9.3%, year-on-year. Total air cargo capacity in August was up by 6.3%, year-on-year, with international air cargo capacity increasing by 6.1%. In July the year-on-year increase in total air cargo capacity had been much less, at 3.6%.
