South African water utility Rand Water says the planned pipeline tie-in from November 15 to 17 “is by no means a total cut-off of water supply”. In response to media reports purporting total water cuts in Gauteng owing to the planned tie-in, it explains that the term “shutdown” is considered “industry norm and well accepted” in the water sector owing to its use to describe a section of the system that may or will be affected by maintenance.
